Reads magnetic stripes. The Omni reads up to three tracks of information with a single swipe in either direction. In combination, the same Omni unit can read both bar code and magnetic stripe media. TTL, RS-232, keyboard wedge, USB/Keyboard, and Weigand interfaces are available. Edits and formats data. The Omni can be programmed to divide, rearrange, edit, and validate fields of scanned data. In addition, it allows for up to 16 preamble or postamble characters. Data editing for the Weigand interface can be programmed with an optional RS-232 adaptor cable.

Scans bar codes. The Omni scans bar codes printed on paper, card stock, or plastic. An infrared option is available for security-based applications, where bar codes are overprinted to prevent duplication. Combo readers read both! The Combo readers read both magnetic stripes and barcodes. Choose from 2 or 3 track magnetic stripe readers combined with visible red or infrared barcode readers. Stands up to heavy use. The Omni reader is designed for demanding applications, such as for access control or in self-service kiosks. Its die-cast metal base, stainless steel wearplate, and impact-resistant housing make it ideal for stand-alone, high-volume traffic. Its metal base can be securely mounted with screws, and cable exits are avaliable at the side, end, or bottom of the unit. A weatherproof/extended temperature version is also available for use in harsh environments.

Barcode slot readers are devices that look like magnetic stripe readers, except they read barcodes that are printed on them. The slot readers connect to a PC by a keyboard wedge cable that connects between the keyboard and the PC or by a USB cable. The barcode is read by visible red optics in the slot and then decoded and sent to the PC. Also available is the infrared option for security-based applications, where bar codes are overprinted to prevent duplication. These devices are commonly used for access ID cards, time clock and other check-in and check-out applications. They can read bar codes printed on paper, card stock, or plastic from .005 to .055" thick. It can be programmed to divide, rearrange, edit, and validate fields of scanned data. In addition, it allows for up to 16 preamble or postamble characters.

Magnetic stripe readers (also referred to as MSRs) read drivers licenses, credit cards and other information encoded in the magnetic stripes. The MSRs we resell all have built in decoders that only output the information encoded in the magnetic stripe and sent it to your PC as if you typed it from the keyboard. By default these MSRs decode AAMVA, ISO 7811 and CA DMV. AAMVA is the standard used to encode and decode the magnetic stripes on drivers licenses in the USA since the year 2000. ISO 7811 is the standard used to encode credit card information. These magnetic stripe decoders can read information from all 3 tracks. Common uses include credit card point of sale systems, drivers license verification, fake drivers license detection and other types of ID cards.
